Panpsychism is the theory that consciousness or some form of ‘mind’ is a fundamental element of the universe.

There are several versions of Panpsychism theory, some assert that all matter, everything from the size of an electron up to the largest structures in the universe contains some form of mind, whether conscious or unconscious. On a basic level, this may mean that when you hit a tennis ball with a racquet, information is passed between the ball and the racquet. Both parties take the new information and alter their behaviour accordingly. In the case of the tennis ball, based on the new information provided, the tennis ball reacts by altering its direction and trajectory.
